It’s Never a Bad Time for a Renaissance Fair
19th Jun 2015
If you’re looking for a good time, you can never go wrong at a Renaissance fair. One was recently held in New Jersey, which NJ.com reports on in a recent article titled “Medieval Times at the New Jersey Renaissance Faire.”
William Perlman of NJ.com writes, “The New Jersey Renaissance Faire was alive and well this weekend and will be again next weekend. As is said as you are given the map of the faire, ‘Nestled in Crossford a village depicting an English countryside in the 1500's. This area is situated on the shores of beautiful Loch Liberty in the Duchy of Northumberland’. There is plenty to do at this years New Jersey Renaissance Faire, from the master revelers all dressed in authentic costumes, and minstrels, maidens and jugglers and not to forget the many food vendors from funnel cakes to giant pickles on a stick to the dragon legs, better known as turkey legs. Live performances from jousting to a Human Chess Match and the Lords of Adventure and their ‘two-man comedy sword fighting show.’ Also musical groups and even a flame swallower.”
If it’s not the time of year for a Renaissance fair in your neck of the woods, you can always get a more personal medieval experience with Renaissance replica items. For example, consider a recent article in the Economist titled “Medieval Rings in New York.” The author of the article writes, “THE ring has a small gold skull with diamond eyes sitting on top of diamond-tipped crossbones. The gold was originally covered in white enamel, but only traces now remain. Lifting the skull reveals a cavity with a ruby heart nestling inside. The message of this European piece is that love rests secure even in the face of death, an idea of some relevance during the plague-ridden 17th century when it was made. It is not the most valuable of the 53 antique finger-rings that are the focus of ‘Treasures and Talismans’ at the Cloisters Museum in New York, but it is one of the most poetic.”
If rings aren’t your thing or you just want something to go with them, we have a huge selection of medieval goods at Armory Replicas. One of our many notable items is our set of Gothic Style Medieval Functional Armor Gauntlets. The gauntlets protect the hands, wrists, and parts of the arm. Not to mention, they are easy to wear and allow full range of motion with the hands, fingers, and wrists. The gauntlets make sure each finger is covered in steel scales, riveted together in a flexible fashion. In addition, the wrists also have layered steel providing full range of motion. Both gauntlets are secured with genuine leather straps over suede gloves. You can wear them over gloves or possibly with bare hands. These gauntlets cover the outside of hands, the wrist, and the first 6 inches of the lower arm. They’re the perfect addition to your collection.
Whatever replica armory needs you might have, we’ve got you covered at Armory Replicas!
