This magnificent piece comes from the Viking age around the area known as Trondheim, Norway. The Petersen type S style hilt was introduced in the 10 century. It would most commonly be owned be a Jarl, Viking Chief, or other wealthy Vikings. This sword is made from polyurethane foam with a 10 mm inner core. The golden pommel and guard feature Jelling style inlay with an antiqued finish to simulate age. The ribbed grip has been painted red with a black base coat. The silver blade has a fuller running down the center on both sides. The fuller was one of the great advantages the Viking had over their enemies. It allowed them to take metal out of the blade without compromising strength. Wield this great sword the next time you set sail to pillage and plunder foreign lands.
