The couple has been performing their knife-throwing act for the last three years. They’re currently touring the UK with the Circus of Horrors.

According to Daily Express writer Dion Dassanayake, Tudorache says, “It definitely keeps our relationship interesting. At the start of our relationship we used to argue before we went out on stage, and I used to worry about having him throw knives at me. But I have never really worried about him hitting me with the knives, I have a lot of trust in him and he has been doing this act for a very long time.”

The couple met in China in 2008 at the Chinese State Circus. MacPherson, who is 53 years old, was already a veteran of performing life-threatening tricks. He was born into a circus family and had been doing these stunts since he was 17. He says that the couple’s relationship certainly helps the act, since they have more trust than mere business partners. Initially, he had to convince his wife to perform, but now both get an adrenaline rush from it.

Knife throwing as a relationship strengthener is an evolution of the act’s original intent, which was as a pastime and/or ritual for soldiers.
