As the days go by, the anticipation for “The Last: Naruto the Movie” continues to grow. The movie is set to be released in the United States in Feb. 2015. It has, however, already been released in Japan.

The movie premiered on Dec. 6. According to Danny Choy of the Latin Times, “By Dec. 17, Crunchyroll reported that the movie has reached 1 Billion Yen, or 8.5 million US dollars at the box office… According to North American anime distributor Viz Media, ‘The Last: Naruto The Movie’ will begin its run in US theaters on Feb. 20 in cities including New York, Boston, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and more. Tickets will go on sale beginning in mid-January. ‘The Last: Naruto The Movie’ is set some time after ‘Naruto Shippuden’ manga ends. A mysterious new villain named Toneri Otsutsuki is said to be the direct descendant of the Sage of Six Paths and the legendary Princess Kaguya Otsutsuki, the first human to ever consume the forbidden fruit of the Shinju tree of chakra. ‘The moon has begun moving closer to Earth! As it is, the moon will crumble and meteorites will rain down on Earth's surface,’ wrote Shonen Jump. ‘As the last days of Earth approach, Hanabi Hyūga is abducted by a mysterious man in Konoha, and Naruto, Sakura, Sai, Shikamaru, and Hinata set off on a rescue mission! Can Naruto and the others overcome this crisis?’”

According to iDigital Times, there’s already a sequel set in place for August 2015. Phillip Martinez of iDigital Times writes, “‘Boruto - Naruto the Movie’ will be the 2015 animated movie set in the Naruto universe and be a sequel to ‘The Last: Naruto the Movie’ and the end of the original storyline in the manga. Of course, Boruto is the Japanese word for Bolt and is the son of Naruto -- who is now the Hokage -- and Hinata Hyuga. And according to the series creator Masashi Kishimoto, the film will be about Bolt and Sarada, saying ‘I conceived a story in which Bolt and [Sasuke's daughter] Sarada appears.’”
