In 1987, Nintendo introduced us to a gaming experience like no other. The Legend of Zelda allowed us to play the hero, embodying link on the quest to save Princess Zelda from the evil Ganondorf. Zelda offered a novel gaming experience through video playacting in a fantasy realm - the game immersed us in the overworld as we battled with sword and shield to save the land of Hyrule.

The video role-play opened up a whole new fantasy world of magic swords, dungeons, princesses, and side-quests. For decades now, fans of the game have experienced the ongoing journey through the eyes of the hero, following Link from the original Super Nintendo system all the way to his new adventures on the Wii U console. This year, Zelda and Linkcome to life in their latest incarnation: Monopoly.

At the American International Toy Fair in February, board game manufacturer USAopoly announced its plans for a new line of Monopoly games that will include Zelda-opoly as well as Pokemonopoly, two video entertainment favorites now immortalized in analog form.

While nothing can contend with the original Legend of Zelda board game released in 1988, inauguration into the themed Monopoly world is an honor all its own. Sources say the board game will be set in Hyrule much like the video game - but we’ll have to wait and see what happens when you land on Free Parking!
