Nichirin are specialized weapons used along with an elemental combat style to slaying demons in the popular Demon Slayer anime series. When the weapon is given to its owner, the blade will change coloration to suit the user and their combat style. Tanjiro Kamado, the kind-natured protagonist, seemed to be dealt an unfortunate hand when his Nichirin blade katana transformed into a stark black. Not much is known regarding a black Nichirin, other than a theory that the user is lacking in skill and will be able to use multiple breathing styles but never able to master 1 specific type. Because of this, the user normally perishes before much can be learned about the black blade, causing them to be considered a bad omen. Though Tanjiro did have trouble at the start, he eventually was able to combine water and fire technics to perform incredibly powerful moves that has saved him and his friends on multiple occasions.
This full-size replica may be made of foam, but it is certainly no children’s toy. This Black Nichirin sword is composed of polyurethane foam and features a 10 mm fiberglass core. Polyurethane foam is both durable and flexible, and the added fiberglass core creates a strong sword that can be used for cosplay as well as kicking bad guy butt in mock battle. The entirety of the sword is a sleek matte black other than some hints of color just like the Nichirin sword carried by the protagonist in the anime. The 29 ½ -inch blade is completely matte black. The handle is molded to resemble a traditional Japanese wrapping in black cloth, with an underlayer of red peeking through. A silver-colored pommel tops the handle, and a black wagon wheel-style hand guard comes detached for easy assembly. A mock habaki and fuchi separates the blade from the handle, with a ridge in between the two to nest the hand guard. Included with your purchase is a shiny black hard plastic scabbard with silver detailing. This lightweight prop is the perfect accessory to complete your cosplay and carry around your next convention.
